Betty Dominguez is a professional street chalk artist best known for her comic paintings. These paintings are images produced with chalk on the sidewalks, asphalt or pavement. All chalk paintings are temporary and eco-friendly, their life span of each chalk painting is based on the elements, traffic, humidity would allow. Any water-soluble affects the chalk and can ruin the work. Some of her chalk paintings are 3-dimensional (3D) and are meant to deceive the eye. A chalk painting may look great to the naked eye, but when you take a picture of the image with a camera the curved lens helps to enhance the 3D effect and even the lighting aspect at times. These illusionistic chalk paintings can be done for festivals, advertising agencies, city events, corporate companies and educational institutions.
Each chalk painting takes about ten to twenty hours to finish within two –three days. The time spent on the floor each day is appox. 10 hours, it varies base on the size and detail of each chalk painting. It takes Betty about 3-4 days to recover from each events.
